Free music lessons for children of refugee families - in Switzerland
Free music lessons for children of refugee families from Ukraine in Switzerland
Nadzeya Kurzava and her colleagues, musicians from Basel, Bern, Zurich, Lucerne, Geneva, Lausanne, and Neuchatel, decided to give children and teenagers from refugee families, who had been studying at music schools or had planned to start studying music, the opportunity to continue their musical education for several months on a free basis.
For string players (violin, cello) who could not take an instrument with them, we will help with renting. For pianists, we are now looking for rooms where children could come and practice individually at a certain time. Music lessons will also include the basics of solfeggio and music theory. And at the end of each week, we would love to make small meetings with all the children (so far only in Basel) to create a circle of communication and integration.
I appeal to my colleagues, musicians who read this message to spread this information and support us. Anyone who wants to join us or can help financially, with ideas, instruments, practice studios, please write to me personally. I will be very glad to hear from you.
Dear parents, write, even if you are from another city or your child plays on any other instrument, we will try to find a teacher for you there.
We will be very happy to help our children to get away from what they and you have had to go through recently and integrate into the local society.
